CDMA
CDMA stands for “Code Division Multiple Access”, a spread spectrum air interface technology used for the digital transmission of radio signals in some digital cellular, personal communications services and other wireless networks. This digital cellular technology is popular in several countries including America and South Korea. CDMA was originally developed for military use over 30 years ago due to its resistance to jamming and eavesdropping. It also has the distinct advantage of noise management in cellular media.
What differentiates CDMA from other phone technologies is that each conversation is digitized and then tagged with a unique code, in order to carry out many conversations over one frequency. The conversation is then transmitted in groups of bits mixed together to the receiving end. At the receiving end each communication is rebuilt in the correct order according to the unique coding attached to that particular conversation.
PDS
The Packet Data Switch (PDS) offers packet data service thorough the CDMA network at 153.6 Kbps. This enables services such as Internet browsing, e-mail, multimedia messaging and other location-based services.
