Local Language Messaging

Local Language Messenger is an application which can be downloaded on to your mobile. The application would enable you to type Sinhala or Tamil scripts and send them as messages to your friends.

Activation

To setup this service follow these steps:

1.    Visit Dialog wap site - www.dialogwap.com from your mobile
2.    Select :  Download Zone  -> Applications under Downloads -> Sin/Tam Msg.
3.    Select 'Local Language Messaging'
4.    Select 'New Local Language Messaging' for the new version. Select the preferred language.
5.    Confirm installation to the phone

To setup the service download the Local language messaging application and follow below listed steps. Once setup, you can use the service as follows:

1.    Application will be installed in the name Arichuvadu ME/Arichuvadu (Tamil version) or Helawadana ME / Helawadana (Sinhala version).
2.    A text editor will be shown for you to type your Sinhala or Tamil messages. Now you will be able to type in the message (Similar to English text typing technique the user will be able the transverse between characters by pressing the same key repeatedly)
3.    Select "options" and the message format (SMS, MMS or Email, in each case the user has to type the subject and the Email address or the Phone number of the recipient).
4.    Select "Send" from the phone menu. (In some phones the user can get the email or phone number from the phone book by pressing the "Add from Contacts" from the menu item).
5.    Accept the confirmation prompting "Allow application to use network & send or receive data" (if required)
6.    Select the valid access point (GPRS connection) to communicate to the server (if required)
7.    The application will send the message and display the confirmation "Message has been sent successfully"

The user can press help to get the layout of the keystrokes.
There are two modes of typing :

  • Text Mode - Enables you to type characters
  • Number mode - Allows you to type Numeric numbers and two characters "." and "?".

To switch between number and Text mode select "Options" and press Switch mode.
The indicator on the top left corner of the editing area will reflect the current mode ("T" or "N").


Use

Note that this is only available for GPRS and MMS enabled connections. The phone needs to support MMS and Java.


Pricing

The application charges are Rs. 150 + tax.
The charge per message is as per usual SMS and GPRS rates.
