The ‘Senehe Siyapatha’ initiative provided 8 new houses to landslide affected victims of Kotapola in the Matara District. The project was powered by generous Dialog subscribers and Dialog Axiata PLC, tripling each donation and manpower supplied free of charge by the civil construction services of the Sri Lanka Army.

Hon. Sagala Ratnayaka, Minister of Project Management, Youth Affairs and Southern Development handed over the keys to the recipients of the brand new houses on the 29th of July, 2018 at a ceremony held in Matara.

The ceremony was also graced by A. S. S. Kumara – Senior Assistant Secretary Ministry of Defence, G. Amarasinghe Divisional Secretary, Kotapola, Kavan Ratnayaka – Chairman, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Amali Nanayakkara Group Chief Marketing Officer, Dialog Axiata PLC and Shayam Majeed – Group Chief Corporate Officer, Dialog Axiata PLC and other special invitees. The ‘Senehe Siyapatha’ fund was initiated in 2016, to assist communities affected by natural disasters, and has supported the completion of 8 houses in Kotapola, Matara district (2018) and 30 houses in Aranayaka, Kegalle district (2017). Further 25 houses in the Eheliyagoda, Ratnapura district and 4 more houses in Kotapola are being planned. The fund received a total donation of Rs. 16.53 million in 2017 and was tripled by Dialog Axiata PLC by adding Rs. 33.47 million. RIL property PLC made a donation of Rs. 7.5 million raising a total of Rs. 57.5 million for the fund.

Houses built using the ‘Senehe Siyapatha’ 2017 fund were constructed under the direction and supervision of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Disaster Management and built per specifications of the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO). Construction was supervised by Sierra Construction and the project managed by Dialog Axiata PLC. The disbursement of funds and actions of ‘Senehe Siyapatha’ are independently audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers Sri Lanka.
