since few months I have been observing that my data is been consumed a lot and my speed is slower than a dialup connection. I have been in contact with the technical team as well, did everything they had asked me to even changed the unit and this problem still continues. Has the services of dialog gone that bad ? do I have to change to a better service provider ?

I have been also experiencing this issue.

Due to the exceptional circumstances we face today, we have observed a surge in broadband traffic.

With work from home becoming a necessity, we have witnessed data traffic being deviated from office to home,
and services such as video conferencing being used more than ever before.

Customers are also using education / entertainment video based services for studying and entertaining themselves as they spend more time at home. These findings match those as seen globally, in countries also affected by this outbreak.

The internet traffic increase may vary between different locations and also may vary at different times of the day,

which as a result, may affect the speeds at different times and locations.

For certain applications they have throttled speeds at the application level to assist telecom operators to manage the upsurge in demand.

How is Dialog going to support you in mitigating this?

Dialog is working on upgrading the network to the best of our ability to serve the unanticipated demand from our customers.

They kindly request all their customers to bear with us for the time being on the overall reduction of connection speed as the network is shared across all users.

Complaints of falling data speeds in the SL began flooding in this week(As I can see on social media posts and comments).
Let me explain this situation this case :

1.People #working #from #home due to the #coronavirus pandemic are putting extra strain on #internet providers.

2.The more people connect to a wireless network causes this slowness. It requires some bandwidth changes to cope with challenge.

Most probably, Dialog will do something if continues.

    Detailed Explanation Part 1 :

If you’ve been working from home during the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, you’ve probably noticed a tech glitch or two.

Maybe your coworker’s face froze in a Zoom meeting, or you watched a YouTube video that seemed grainier than normal.

There’s been a surge in internet traffic in recent weeks, only part of which is due to more people working from home.

That was happening on a smaller scale before the pandemic. As state and local governments have imposed lockdowns across the country,

    Detailed Explanation Part 2 :

People are now doing everything from home, and a lot of it’s online.

People are playing video games online; they’re doing video calls; they’re watching nerve-wrenching press conferences; and yes, they’re surely working part of the time. All that bandwidth adds up.

Even Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted this week that his company, which also owns Instagram and WhatsApp, is “just trying to keep the lights on” as usage on its apps and platforms soars to record highs.

But there’s a distinction between what’s happening on the internet as a whole and what’s happening on platforms like Zoom, YouTube, and Facebook.

Check router unit (CPE) for at least 3 bars in the signal indicator.

Check on the CPE Network Mode indicator color. Please refer Router user manual for more information.

Find out whether your PC or laptop meets the recommended requirements.

Check whether PC or devices are performing a heavy duty download or other activities (Backups, Virus scan, Auto updates).

Check bandwidth connectivity of the other computers if the Wi-Fi or wired connection is shared.

Please comment your specific connection (Mobile or Home Broadband) with the signal status and speed to help you.

This test measures the speed between your computer and the Internet and can help you determine if you should take steps to improve performancehttp://www.speedtest.net

The test shows three key measurements :

Ping: Reaction time of the connection, which means how fast you get a response after you've sent out a request
Download speed: The speed of Data sent from the Internet to your computer
Upload speed - The speed of Data sent from your computer to the Internet

Average Download speed : 4 Mbps
    Upload : 1 Mbpss
