6th April 2026 Colombo
Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s #1 connectivity provider, continues to shape Sri Lanka’s digital future by introducing ‘GanuDenu QR’, a QR-based payment solution available via the MyDialog App. Enabling customers to instantly send and receive money through Dialog Finance and eZ Cash accounts, this first-of-its-kind innovation in Sri Lanka extends QR payments beyond merchant transactions, supporting the country’s transition towards a more cashless, digitally inclusive, and connected society.
Building on the growing adoption of QR-based payments and fund transfers in Sri Lanka, ‘GanuDenu QR’ introduces a new level of convenience by enabling seamless fund transfers directly between individuals through a simple QR code. The feature allows users to send or receive up to LKR 5,000 free of charge, supporting a range of use cases including sharing expenses, settling payments, and facilitating small transactions among friends, families, and communities. Designed to be simple, secure, and real-time, the solution enhances the ease of transacting digitally without the need for cash. ‘GanuDenu QR’ is interoperable across the LankaPay network, enabling transactions across all CBSL-accredited banks, non-bank financial institutions, and fintech platforms.
Launched in time for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, ‘GanuDenu QR’ also provides a timely digital alternative for traditional exchanges during Avurudu, while extending its relevance beyond the festive season. As an added benefit, customers using ‘GanuDenu QR’ via the MyDialog App will also receive 2GB of free data on their first send transaction.
Commenting, Supun Weerasinghe, Director / Group Chief Executive of Dialog Axiata PLC said, “At Dialog, we believe that digital payments play a critical role in shaping a more inclusive and connected digital economy. With the introduction of ‘GanuDenu QR’, we are expanding the role of QR payments in Sri Lanka beyond merchant transactions, enabling individuals to transact directly with one another in a simple and seamless manner. We would like to acknowledge the Ministry of Digital Economy, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, and LankaPay for their support in enabling this platform, including the waiving of transaction fees for transfers up to LKR 5,000. Together, these efforts represent a meaningful first step towards creating a cashless digital economy in Sri Lanka.”
Reinforcing its vision of building a digitally inclusive society, Dialog continues to invest in solutions that expand access to digital services and make everyday interactions simpler and more convenient. The introduction of ‘GanuDenu QR’ reflects this focus, enabling more practical ways for individuals to transact while supporting the continued evolution of Sri Lanka’s digital landscape.
