The Eagles, St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota, will face-off last season’s runners up St. Joseph’s College, Colombo, in the season open of Dialog Rugby League 2023 at Bogambara Grounds in Kandy from 4pm onwards today.

In the 2022 season of the Dialog Schools Rugby League, the Eagles fared poorly by winning only one game in the entire season, while the boys from Darley Road had a good outing coming second only to the Green Machine, Isipathana College, Colombo, who had a perfect season.

On the 16th of June Vidyartha College, Kandy will take on Science College, Mt. Lavinia, while the Thomians will scrum down against Wesley College, Colombo at Mt. Lavina on the next day.

The biggest clash of the week will take place between arch rivals St. Peter’s College, Colombo vs the boys from Reid Avenue, Royal College, Colombo on 17th June at Bambalapitiya. Royal College who missed the title last year due to unforced errors and disciplinary issues will be looking for a strong season with their customary forward play, while the boys from Bambalapitiya who had a dismal season last year will be gunning for the league title under the watchful eyes of master tactician and coach Sarath Martis.

The third game on the 17th of June will be between Dharmaraja College, Kandy and Trinity College, Kandy at Bogambara Grounds, while the following day at the same venue Kingswood College will take on last year’s champs Isipathna College, Colombo.
